They’ve found safety, care and second chances

Success stories with small lives at the centre.

Some success stories end with a forever home. Some begin with an animal finally being safe, pain-free, warm, fed and understood. Every story here is a reminder of why specialist small animal rescue matters.

From hoarding cases and abandoned rabbits to lonely chinchillas, overweight hamsters and animals needing surgery, these are the small lives your support has helped change.

Not every success starts with adoption.

Sometimes success is safety, pain relief, a friend, a proper diet, or the first comfortable day in a long time.

Success is not just the happy ending. It is every moment where an animal’s life starts getting better.

These stories show the different ways rescue changes lives: urgent care, pain relief, companionship, confidence, safe housing, weight management, rehabilitation and carefully matched homes.

Little updates, big feelings

Recent second chances and happy new chapters.

Not every update needs to be long to matter. Sometimes one photo says it all: settled, safe, loved, busy, curious, bonded or finally living the life they should have had all along.

Otis the chinchilla

Otis

Otis came to us after a failed bond and desperately needed a friend. He was neutered, given time, care and the right support, and he now has a lovely girlfriend to share life with.

Mr Grey in his new home

Mr Grey

Mr Grey officially left the building after working hard to reach a healthier weight. He is now exploring his new home, enjoying foraging, supervised free-roaming and a carefully managed diet.

Socks in her new home

Socks

Socks has well and truly landed on her feet. She is enjoying her new home and settling into her next chapter beautifully. We are just waiting for the serial rearranging to begin.

Phoebe from the hamster hoard

Phoebe & babies

Phoebe came from the huge hamster hoarding case. After everything they had been through, Phoebe and her babies all went on to find homes. A huge outcome from a very difficult rescue.

From the archive

Some of the stories that shaped the rescue.

These are some of the earlier success stories already shared by Greatfield, from rats rescued from awful conditions to rabbits who found the lives they deserved.

The Great Rat Rescue

Greatfield was part of a huge rescue of more than 80 rats, working alongside rescues around the country. Twelve boys came into Greatfield’s care after being kept in terrible conditions, suffering from respiratory infections, mites and other health issues.

They were finally given safety, treatment, clean housing and the chance to live properly cared-for lives.

“We can’t change their past, but we can change their futures.”

Buddy’s Story

Buddy was being given away for free and living in poor conditions, with unsuitable food, no proper setup and owners who were scared to handle him. When collected, he immediately showed his gentle nature by coming forward for attention.

Once safe, he was vaccinated, castrated and microchipped, then found a wonderful forever home with his Elsa, where he became a devoted husbun.

Tilly’s Tale

Tilly is now thriving in her forever home, happy, free and loved-up with her husbun. Her new life is unrecognisable from the suffering she endured before rescue.

Her before and after photos are an important reminder of why safe housing, clean conditions and proper rabbit welfare matter so much.

Lavin’s Story

Lavin was dumped on the Yorkshire Moors in the pitch black, but his personality shone through. He was friendly, comical, chilled-out and full of character.

After such a frightening start, he finally found his forever home and the safe, loving life he always deserved.

Your support changes the ending

Every success story starts with someone helping.

A donation can pay for medication. A foster home can create space for an emergency. A wishlist gift can stock up bedding, food or enrichment. A share can help the right adopter find the right animal.

Rescue work is rarely one big dramatic moment. It is lots of small, practical acts of care: cleaning, feeding, monitoring, vet visits, medication, bonding support, transport, forms, updates, fundraising and patient daily kindness.

That is what turns abandoned, unwell or unwanted animals into Honey, Otis, Mr Grey, Socks, Phoebe, Buddy, Tilly, Lavin and so many more.

Small lives become success stories because people care enough to act. Whether you donate, adopt, foster, send supplies, sponsor, fundraise or share a post, you are part of the happy ending.

Help us create the next success story.

There are always more small animals waiting for safety, treatment, confidence and the right home. Your support helps us keep saying yes when they need us.
